Lothar Speer Caricature Artist
Caricature Artist
Lothar studied fine art at the National Academies of Vienna, Austria and Basel, Switzerland. He received his B.F.A. from Loyola University, Chicago, and His M.F.A. from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia. His classical portrait and fine art has been exhibited in museums and galleries on both sides of the Atlantic, notably on this continent in the Capitol Building, Washington, D.C. and N.Y.C. galleries
His portrait commissions include the president of McDonald's Corporation North America. Twenty years ago, Mr. Speer expanded his training into a more humorous, more poignant area of artistic endeavour: caricature art. With a level of observational prowess and compassionate wit rarely found in the world of entertainment, Lothar is capable of capturing distinct, characteristic cartoon likenesses of his fellow travelers reminiscent of his classical work.
He greatly enjoys meeting and interacting with a variety of people from all walks of life, such as is only possible in the fast paced and highly productive realm of live performance art. As a sought after event artist and entertainer, he also offers elegant Renaissance style portraits and Victorian silhouettes during his event art performances.
A select list of his clients include many of America's top universities, sports teams and corporations, such as Loyola and Northwestern Universities, University of Chicago, University of Illinois, The Chicago Cubs and White Sox, McDonald's Corporation, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Modern Art, All State, and the Hilton and Hyatt Corporations.
